Questioning
Questioning is when we challenge the texts we read. We need to question texts, topics and how valid is the content and how relevant is it to our world.
We can look at questions with a right or wrong answer and also think beyond the text and make connections and inferences.
Activity - A fun way to reflect on a unit of study
Fact or Fib
1. Make a list of facts learnt in a unit of work, e.g. The Body
2. For each fact, decide whether to write the answer as a fact or fib.
e.g. Statement - The heart is an organ that pumps blood around the body.
Answer - Fact. The heart pumps oxygenated blood to all parts of the body.

"Say Something"
Say Something is designed to build the expectation that readers talk to each other about their reading, but what they talk about is up to them. They may choose to respond with a prediction, with a thought about how the text relates to a personal experience, or with an opinion.
The quality of " Say Something" responses can be elevated with modelling and charts (see chart opposite).
